Rice Monster Reviews (0)

Tried this place (inside the Social Eatery), really liked it. Also had one dish from the noodle place and drink from grape place in same room. Very easy to order from any of the places on their table tablet. It is a bit pricey for what you get but the chinese sausage and crispy rice and unagi and crispy rice were quite good. The bowls the rice came in were blackish but when you scrape the rice the bowl was silver underneath so hope the black part isn't something bad for me that is chipping off the bowls into the food. But cannot confirm and food was quite tasty. Service was fine. I do like the place. Some private tables around edge of room with community tables in middle. Don't like community tables myself but getting table was not an issue. All in all I will probably be back. Tasty food Expensive food (good quality I felt but quite pricey but what isn't) Decent size portion for one person On another note, people do the weirdest stuff in public. I sat and had view of a guy pretty close and he just was sitting chewing then leaned forward and slowly in plain view just started dropping food slowly from his mouth about 9 inches above into a bowl. Who are these people. I swear it was asian Elvis I think also. But I still really enjoyed food when it came 5 minutes later. So that should tell you food was pretty good cause witnessing that was gross and ridiculous. I shot daggers but he never looked. Maybe he had no idea anyone else was there people are so uncouth. Anyway we ate and I put my pants and shoes back on and left. :) just kidding I entered with no pants and shoes ;)

So we got the Lap Mei Clay, Pork Ribs Clay and American Pork Ginseng Soup.Decent place for Bao Zai. We dined in and the place was pretty busy. The rice had crunchiness at the bottom of pot. Not a-lot of meat in the Lap Mei but it was yum. The Pork ribs were soft. Surprisingly the soup was nice and wasn't salty. Overall it's not that much food for Two people, I recommend getting four items. I would come back to try the noodles. Ordering was easy off a tablet. Service was friendly. Parking lot in front

Rice Monster is located inside the Social Eatery Food Hall in Millbrae. They're known for their rice dishes which are made fresh to order which are both delicious and well-balanced. We tried the Bao Zai Fan, Lap Mei Rice Clay Pot and soup combo, and unagi rice. All of them were delicious and definitely a must-try for those who love crispy rice. The rice was cooked in a clay pot until it was crispy on the bottom, and it was topped with a generous amount of stir-fried vegetables and meat. Overall, I had a great experience at Rice Monster. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the prices were reasonable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great rice dish.

Coming on an afternoon weekday, it wasn't busy at all! This place is located in a private parking lot with a decent amount of parking spots. I love sizzling rice pot and I actually haven't had them in quite a long time. So to know that there's a place in Millbrae that specializes in this place is honestly exciting. Solely basing this off of what I ordered, I got the Unagi Rice Bowl to-go. The thought of steamy hot unagi (bbq eel) paired with crispy rice just sounded so decadent and delicious I just had to try it out. I even added a poached egg to give it more texture to it. And I love eggs so I just had to. My verdict? It was delicious! The unagi soooo soft and steamy. And the rice was hot and crispy on the bottom. I loved it. It's exactly how I envisioned what it would taste like and it did not disappoint. Add that poached egg in there, it definitely helps. If you do get it to-go, the egg might cook in the hot rice bowl so eat it asap. Mine was a little cooked but it was still delicious. Overall, this place is solid! It may be a little pricey in terms of portion and what not, but it's a great place to come try out. And I would definitely get that unagi rice bowl again.

A Culinary Journey Through Asia’s Rice Cultures
Rice Monster offers a culinary journey that takes you through the diverse rice cultures of Asia. Each dish is a tribute to the rich history and significance of rice in these cultures. For instance, you can start with a traditional Japanese Donburi, where fluffy, steaming rice is topped with various proteins and vegetables, creating a balanced and satisfying meal. The Donburi options range from the classic Chicken Teriyaki to more adventurous choices like Unagi (eel) or Tempura Shrimp.
For those who prefer something with a bit more spice, the Thai-inspired dishes are a must-try. The Thai Basil Chicken with Jasmine Rice is a crowd favorite, featuring tender chicken stir-fried with aromatic Thai basil and chilies, served over a bed of fragrant Jasmine rice. The combination of spicy, sweet, and savory flavors makes this dish irresistible.
Another highlight is the Korean Bibimbap, a mixed rice dish that combines warm rice with assorted vegetables, marinated beef, a fried egg, and gochujang (Korean chili paste). The Bibimbap at Rice Monster is served in a hot stone bowl, which continues to cook the rice, creating a delightful crunchy texture at the bottom—a true delight for the senses.
Innovative Twists on Traditional Dishes
One of the things that sets Rice Monster apart is its innovative approach to traditional rice dishes. The chefs here aren’t afraid to experiment, and the result is a menu full of surprises. For example, their signature Rice Burger is a unique take on the classic hamburger. Instead of a bun, this burger uses pressed rice cakes, giving it a delightful chewy texture that pairs perfectly with the juicy beef patty and fresh vegetables inside.
Another innovative dish is the Sushi Burrito, which takes the concept of sushi rolls and transforms them into a portable, handheld meal. Wrapped in seaweed and filled with sushi rice, fresh fish, and an array of crunchy vegetables, this dish is perfect for those on the go or anyone looking for a fresh take on sushi.
Rice Monster also offers a variety of vegan and vegetarian options, ensuring that everyone can enjoy their creative dishes. The Vegan Tofu Rice Bowl, for example, features crispy tofu cubes marinated in a savory sauce, served over brown rice with a medley of fresh vegetables. It’s a hearty and nutritious option that doesn’t compromise on flavor.
The Perfect Pairings: Drinks and Sides
No meal at Rice Monster would be complete without the perfect pairings. The restaurant offers a selection of sides and beverages that complement their rice dishes beautifully. For a refreshing contrast to the richness of the rice dishes, try the Pickled Vegetables, which are lightly seasoned and provide a tangy crunch that cleanses the palate.
The Miso Soup is another popular choice, offering a warm and comforting start to your meal. Made with fermented soybean paste and filled with tofu, seaweed, and green onions, it’s a traditional Japanese dish that pairs well with almost anything on the menu.
For drinks, Rice Monster offers a variety of options, from traditional teas to more modern choices. The Matcha Latte is a favorite, combining the earthy bitterness of matcha with creamy milk, making it both soothing and invigorating. If you’re in the mood for something cold, the Thai Iced Tea is a must-try, with its sweet and creamy flavor providing a perfect balance to the savory rice dishes.

It is super cute inside kind of like a food court where there are variety of options. Super easy to order food through their iPad. The clay pot rice was super tasty and also had great noodles. They also had boba drinks and their fruit teas are delicious. Would definitely go back again.
